panthers and the museum of fire

* * *

It's amazing how fast life changes, how fast it moves. I suppose Ferris was right, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it... One minute you're sitting in an air-conditioned apartment making pancakes and watching endless hours of movies, and the next, you're brushing your teeth in a dog park and shampooing your hair in front of five-foot ocean waves. It's pretty disorienting ... and pretty damn fantastic.

It's been almost a month now of living the nomad life, and it's been more than enjoyable. Besides having to climb out of a station wagon to go to work in the morning, the freedom of having all your worldly possessions in one fully mobile space is very unreal indeed.

Besides the fact that we have become canadian-tourist-gypsy-hippies, things are relatively normal around here. Lots of sunning and swimming. Today, being a lovely wednesday with a small swell, we attempted an afternoon surf but were foiled by an unfair amount of blue bottle jellyfish... five minutes after paddling out I felt like I was smack dab in the middle of finding nemo, surrounded by a scattered army of stingy blue jellies ... so I quickly body-surfed the first wave out of there.

I leave you now with some random snapshots of January....

JayJays had a competition last week where we were asked to create a poster display for Big Day Out music festivalthe , and the winning store would win free double passes. This is the product of three days worth of back room scavenging, shelf climbing, and the dire need to not spend money on concerts .... In the end, the efforts paid off when this....

.... brought us to this! Just one of the stages at the lovely Big Day Out Sydney 2011. If you squint really hard you can see Lupe Fiasco on stage there.... AMAZING!

Along with Agnes the station wagon sent from heaven came a ginormous tent setup that adam and I put together for the first time last week ... and so on one sunny tuesday afternoon, the most glorious daytime chill spot (also known as) the legendary Bonny Goon, was born.

a wise man once said home is where you hang your hat...
(this man definitely lived in his car at one point)

Adam taking a nap on our most recent addition to the carpartment - the beautiful space-saving mastercraft that is the Thule Ocean 200! Hooray for Ebay :)

You meet some interesting friends when you live on wheels ... even in the suburbs of Sydney. One night this little guy wandered into our vicinity for a late-night snack!

apparently schnitzel burgers are a favourite among the fox families...

take a walk on the wild side
